Sleeping in is easier than you think

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE sleeping....like really, really love it. I love sleeping so much that I have made an entire night time routine to allow for a few more minutes of precious sleep in the morning. These tips will not only save you time in the morning but can also save you the hassle and stress of waking up and needing to function right away.

The Perfect Outfit Every Time

clothes 2I am an indecisive person on a good day. Now add morning grogginess to the equation and I am completely useless. With that in mind, I have started shifting my morning routine to the night time. Every evening, I check the weather (this New England weather is unpredictable at best), think about what my work day will entail (is it a catch up on paperwork day or meeting with clients day) and then

clothes3pick my outfit. More than just picking the outfit, I hang up every item of clothing I will need to wear (including underwear and socks) and place my shoes at the bottom. I have also started to include the jewelry I will wear with my outfit into this process! So now when I wake up, I am no longer just staring blankly at my closet wondering "what should I wear today?". I can now sleep in knowing I already picked out the perfect clothes to wear the night before. If you’re feeling really motivated, you can decide your outfits for the whole week at once. Night Showers I try to minimize the amount of time I need every morning in the bathroom to get ready. One of the best things I do to accomplish this goal is that I shower at night. Showering at night gives me more time to enjoy the shower and slowly transition to sleeping clothes without feeling rushed. Sometimes I DREAD taking showers simply because I hate drying off and dealing with my hair afterwards. If I were to shower in the morning, I would have to wake up earlier, take a rushed shower, get dressed, and then deal with my soaking wet hair before leaving. Waking up earlier is always a problem for me but even more so if I have to blow dry my hair to make sure it doesn't freeze on my commute. I know some people feel like showering in the morning is the only way to wake them up and if you are one of those people then more power to you. Since I am not one of those people, showering at night does the trick.

Faster Than Fast Food  fruit prep                                                                                                                             So we have established that I love sleeping and I am indecisive. Another thing I am is well-prepared. Along with my clothing preparation, I also prepare a few items in the kitchen the night before to have everything ready to go. At night, I set up the coffee maker so all I have to do is start it when I wake up. In addition to coffee, I also make my lunch the night before and have it ready in the fridge to grab and go! If you want to take this to the next level, you can set aside some time during the weekend to prepare breakfasts and lunch for the whole week. This makes it even easier to pack your lunch at night or even in the morning since everything is premade. Along with my lunch, I have my work bag packed and have other items set aside if I am going to need them for the next day (like gym clothes if I have a spin class after work).

Overall, preparing as much as possible at night makes it easier to manage your morning and stay on schedule. By doing some of these things, you can enjoy more of those precious moments in bed and sleep a little longer. Start waking up later and feel confident about your stress free morning.
